Hi, I’m Pieter (He/Him).

I consider my therapeutic work with people a privilege and honour. I see myself as on the same journey as others - to learn to understand myself and my relationships in order to live well in our community and environment. I provide a warm, compassionate and safe space where we can explore unique experiences, work towards shared understandings of difficulties faced, harness resources and build strategies to improve individual and relational wellbeing.

I moved to South-west Victoria with my family over a decade ago having lived and worked in Melbourne for many years. I now enjoy the best of both places. I love the ocean, wildlife and community spirit of the Warrnambool region in which I live. I also love the cultural events, restaurants, and live music that Melbourne offers and visit regularly.

I am passionate about my work and professional development. Having completed my Masters in Clinical Family Therapy (MCFT), I have also undertaken training in Emotion focussed Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy and Gottman Couples Therapy. I have begun training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and have an emerging practice in this approach. I am a professional member of the Australian Association of Family Therapy and certified practicing member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA #29906). I have worked in the community services sector for over 20 years in roles including multiple complex needs case management, family reconciliation and mediation, mental health, and family and couples’ therapy. I am passionate about systemic work with multiple people and relational patterns that bind people in undesired ways of being.
